Biological sciences involve the study of living organisms and their vital processes, encompassing all the physicochemical aspects of life. This field is often approached based on levels that deal with fundamental units of life. Biology is subdivided into separate branches for the convenience of study, although all subdivisions are interrelated by basic principles. For instance, the study of plants (botany) is separated from that of animals (zoology), and the study of the structure of organisms (morphology) is separated from that of function (physiology).
